Summer camps don’t transform lives – however a relationship can!  Therefore, Youth for Christ/Greensboro invests heavily in offering a wide variety of summer camps in order to build significant relationships with middle and high school youth.   Shared adventures, challenges, work projects and play activities, all in a camp environment void of many distractions, create the ideal atmosphere for conversations to occur and relationships to deepen.

A new staff member recently commented, “I got to know the kids better in one week of camp than during the previous six months of weekly clubs.”  Sharing life experiences can certainly have this effect.  While structured activities and programming is built into every camp, there is also ample informal, unstructured time for one-on-one conversations and give and take.

Whatever the camp format, whether it is a weeklong resident camp, a mission/service project, day camp, bike trip, or a  leadership camp, the goal is the same – to give the kids what they desire and need most.  We can summarize those needs and desires as follows:

1)  Every young person desires to be recognized, to be known, to be called by name.
2)  Every young person desires to be listened to, heard, and understood.
3)  Every young person desires to be valued (loved).  Kids spell love “T I M E”!
4)  Every young person desires adventure and the challenge of new experiences.
5)  Every young person desires to be heroic and to make a difference.

We believe all these needs and desires can be completely fulfilled only through a personal encounter and relationship with Jesus Christ.  “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”   (Philippians 4:19)

Camps require an immense investment of time, planning, prayer and finances, but it is worth it all.  Our two most crucial needs are for prayer and for camp scholarships.  Please contact us with any questions you may have or with any assistance you can provide.  Be heroic – make a difference!  Check out the Summer Camps link on the left to see a list of camps we are offering for the summer of 2016!
